Dr. Sarah Newth

Dr. Sarah Newth, R.Psych. received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of British Columbia and is a Registered Psychologist who works with children, teens, adults and families. Her clinical work emphasizes cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) for anxiety or mood disorders, habit disorders, and stress related problems including chronic pain or illness. She is certified in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) by the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT-ACTCC).

Dr. Newth is one of Directors of the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic where she is in private practice. She also provides CBT via video Telehealth to the community of Bella Coola, BC through the Vancouver Coastal Health Region. She has served on a number of expert advisory committees including the British Columbia Medical Association "Anxiety and Depression in Children and Youth Working Group" and the Ministry of Children and Family Development "Anxiety Strategy Advisory Group". She has published in the areas of anxiety, mood, stress and chronic pain.

Dr. Newth was previously a member of clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry, UBC where she worked at the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at UBC Hospital. Her past work includes serving as the Director of Programs for Anxiety BC. She is involved in a number of initiatives around the management of mood or anxiety disorders in the primary care setting including the BC Family Physicians’ Guide and is one of the trainers for the Mental Health Practice Support Program for Physicians in the Fraser Health Region. Dr. Newth has produced materials on evidence based management of anxiety or mood disorders among adults for the BC Ministry of Health and authored several wellness modules for the BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions Information.
